No small part of this situation is the deliberate destruction of labor unions and other efforts to organize workers. That the so-called religious leaders of this country have not only stood by but actively colluded in this process is one of the scandals of our times.
Our neighbor, who has his own not-so-successful remodeling business, is being pushed by his wife to get a job with a local utility that is hiring. He is resisting because it is a union job, and as a conservative Christian he opposes unions. Why? He has no idea. He just knows that liberals like unions and therefore unions must be unChristian. Wisconsin, state motto "Progress", recently passed a right-to-not-get-a-decent-job law.
